Do you think that the reason most millennials don’t vote is because politics doesn’t serve their interests? It is not to say that they are not interested or worried about politics and economy, because they are, but have you ever thought, the reason politics doesn’t serve their interests is because they don’t vote?
I am here to tell you, millennials, YOU have the power to rise up as one and effect change in the political process and the city you are living in now and for many years to come. For you and your children.
In this day and age, you have grown up with higher levels of student loan debt, affordable housing issues and finding employment in your educated field, etc. You can find a voice when it comes to gender roles, racial equality, ethnics and human rights so what is stopping you from having an impact on YOUR civic future in Saskatoon?
How many times have you heard “If you don’t vote then you can’t complain.”? Well, in a way it’s true. You can’t complain for the next 4 years. But, you can complain, question and inform yourself the next time an election comes! NOW is your time to do it. It happens on October 26, 2016.
Research both candidates. Is the person going to hold YOUR best interest or their own? Did you know that in the last election, in 2012, that the candidate that was elected in Ward 4 won by only 201 votes? Only 201! Out of 17,337 registered voters in Ward 4 only 5,799 votes were counted. That is 11,538 voters that did NOT vote. If you think your vote does not matter, then the proof is in the number.
If you are a millennial and are interested in helping me reach out and advocate for them to rise up and shape their future, please contact me to volunteer with my campaign. Let’s make a change, together.
YOUR VOTE MATTERS.
